The similarities to Madonna are obvious, as are the parallels to the discrimination that she and other women have experienced in the biz, partly from the reactions of the public. These women also pay a high price for their fame in voluntary and forced isolation, hiding behind sunglasses and bodyguards, and deserve some tolerance and understanding for their situation. The many scandals among young celebrity women for me illustrate a systemic problem in the industry in preparing young people and their families for their roles in the public eye.
